Salon inventory management that counts in ml, not guesses
Colour is used by the millilitre and bought by the bottle. Frizzi’s salon inventory management software keeps track of both: products sold at the till leave stock by themselves, and in Pro each service takes what its recipe says, so you can see where the colour went.
- “3 packs + 250 ml”, not a guess
- Valued at weighted average cost
- “About 6 days left” before you run out

Salon inventory management basics, without a stock clerk
For sale, for services, or both
A product is sold at the till, used in services, or both. Back-bar products never show at the till. Bills take products out by themselves, and a cancelled bill puts them back.
Pieces, ml or grams
Products in ml or g have a pack size, so stock reads “3 packs + 250 ml”. Selling one at the till takes a whole pack. A product’s unit can’t change once it has stock.
Stock in, and how it was paid
Enter what arrived and, if you like, what it cost. Paid with cash from the drawer, it shows in that day’s cash tally, not as an expense. “Not paid yet” is remembered too.
“I counted” and write-offs
Count one product and set it to what is on the shelf, with a reason when it differs. Write off what is expired, damaged, spilled or used in the salon.
Low-stock alerts
“Warn me when it drops to 3”, per product and per branch. One note a day at 9:30 am, with low items first on the Stock page.
Value at average cost
Each delivery adds what it cost; anything leaving takes the average. 10 bottles at ₹100 and then 10 at ₹130 is ₹2,300 for 20, so ₹115 each.
In every plan
Running out soon, said in plain words
Frizzi looks at what each branch really sold and used in services over the last 28 days, and says how long the shelf will last: “About 6 days left” or “About 3 weeks left”. A strip at the top of the Stock page lists everything that runs out within 14 days, soonest first, and each product gets a small tag when it is 30 days or less away.
When there is too little to go on (used on fewer than 5 days, or only a little), it says nothing rather than guess. Write-offs, counts and transfers aren’t counted as use.
- From real sales and service use only
- Per branch, or the soonest branch for “All branches”
- Order before the colour runs out, not after

What services use, and who you buy from
Recipes: what each service uses
Tell Frizzi what a service uses each time: “Global colour: 60 ml colour, 90 ml developer”. Every bill then takes those products from that branch, including package sessions and the services inside a combo.
When a stylist uses more on long hair, the amount can be changed at the till (“Products used”), on the bill afterwards, or by the stylist in “Products I used”. Each month Frizzi compares the recipes with what was used, and flags a product used more than 20% beyond its usual and worth at least ₹500.
- Shows the cost of each service, and its margin
- Low-margin services flagged on Mondays
- Counts can mark a shortage as “used more than the recipe”

Suppliers, orders and what you owe
Keep a suppliers list with phone numbers and GSTINs. New order starts with everything at or below its low-stock alert, enough to get back to twice the alert in whole packs. Change what you like, save it as PO-0001, and send it as a PDF or on WhatsApp.
Deliveries can come in parts: the order shows Waiting, Part arrived, All arrived or Closed. Stock bought on credit is added to what that branch owes the supplier. Pay it off in parts, from the drawer or another way, and send back damaged or wrong stock with a return.
- Orders filled in from low stock
- Money owed kept per branch, per supplier
- Returns taken off what you owe

Branches, barcodes, counts and dates
Transfers between branches
Send stock to another branch. It is “on the way” until that branch taps Received. Less arrived? They give a reason, and the shortfall shows as a loss. A transfer can be called back.
Barcodes and labels
Scan with the camera or a USB or Bluetooth scanner gun, link unknown codes, and print A4 label sheets with your own in-store codes. Not yet tried with a real camera or scanner.
Planned counts
Start a full count and Frizzi notes what each product should be, so bills during the count don’t mix it up. Every difference needs a reason. A shortage can be charged to a staff member’s pay.
Expiry dates
Add an expiry date to each delivery. “Expiring soon” shows what runs out of date within 30 days, so it gets used or sold first.
Big write-offs wait for you
Set an amount. A manager’s write-off worth more than that waits for the owner, and nothing moves until you approve it.
A stock ledger you can close
Every change is a stock move that can’t be edited. Close a month and it never reopens; a later change posts today with a note saying which bill it came from.
Stock reports
Salon inventory reports that answer “where did it go?”
| Report | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Stock value | What is on the shelf at each branch at average cost, and what is on the way between branches |
| Month movement (Pro) | For each product: opening, stock in, sold, used in services, transfers, write-offs, returns, count differences and closing, in quantity and rupees |
| Losses (Pro) | Write-offs, count shortages and transfer shortages by reason, branch and month, less what was charged to staff |
| Use against recipes (Pro) | What the recipes say against what was used, by product, service and stylist |
| Purchases | Stock ins by supplier |
| Supplier payments | What was paid to each supplier, when and how |
| Purchase price history | What you paid for a product each time, so a price rise doesn’t slip past |
| GST paid on purchases | An estimate of GST paid to suppliers, split by stock for resale and for salon use. Not a claim: ask your CA |
Each report opens for one branch or all branches, as Excel or PDF. They are part of Frizzi’s 39 reports.
Not in Frizzi yet: purchase GST input credit, batch-wise stock (expiry is kept per delivery, as a reminder), undoing a payment to a supplier, and commission on products used in services. A salon charging 5% GST on services can’t claim input tax credit on what goes into those services; whether any GST on stock bought to resell can be claimed is for your CA to say. GST on salon products.

Enter what is on the shelf
One stock in with today’s count and cost. From now on, bills take products out by themselves.
Set the alerts
A low-stock level for the products you can’t run out of. The 9:30 am note does the rest.
Count once a month
A quick “I counted” on key products, or a full planned count with recipes and reasons in Pro.
FAQ
Questions
Can Frizzi track how much colour each service uses?
Yes, in Pro. Give each service a recipe (for example 60 ml colour and 90 ml developer) and every bill takes it from stock. The real amount can be changed on the bill, and a monthly report shows where more was used than the recipes say.
How does Frizzi value my stock?
At weighted average cost. Each delivery adds what it cost, and anything that leaves takes the average at that moment. Products with stock but no cost yet are left out of the value, and the page says how many.
What happens if stock goes below zero?
It is allowed, because a bill should never wait for stock entry. The level shows in amber, and the next delivery covers it.
Is buying stock an expense?
No. Stock paid with cash from the drawer shows in the cash tally as stock bought, not as an expense, so it isn’t counted twice. Profit takes off what stock cost when it is used, sold or lost, never when it is bought.
Can I move stock between my branches?
Yes, with Pro. Send it from one branch; it is “on the way” until the other branch taps Received. Each branch keeps its own levels, value and alerts in every plan.
Does it work with a barcode scanner?
A scanner gun that types into the till’s search box adds a product in every plan. Pro adds camera scanning, scanning in counts and stock ins, linking unknown codes and printing labels. None of this has been tried with a real camera or scanner yet, so test yours during the trial.
Can I claim GST input credit on products through Frizzi?
No. Frizzi shows an estimate of GST paid on purchases, split by resale and salon use, and says plainly that it isn’t a claim. Your CA decides what, if anything, can be claimed.
